Description

In this course, we will survey the introduction of regenerative medicine into the veterinary sciences field.  We will explore the basic pathways of how adipose-derived stem cells differentiate into specific tissues in response to a series of biological signaling molecules produced by the animal body.  We will consider platelet-rich plasma as a singular therapy as well as its conjunction with stem cell therapy.  The focus will be designed around stem cell therapy and its documented applications using clinical case data.

Learning Objectives

Upon completing this course, participants should be able to clearly identify:

  • The differences between Adult Stem Cell sources and Embryonic Stem Cells
  • The Capability of Adult Derived Stem Cell Therapy in Veterinary Medicine
  • The differences in Stem Cells vs. Platelet Rich Plasma
  • The ability to identify the Stromal Vascular Fraction
  • The primary mechanisms for activation of a SVF
  • Current indications in practice use for Adipose Derived Stem Cells
  • Mode of actions for repair utilizing a Stromal Vascular Fraction
  • In Vitro actions of activated samples vs. non activated samples
  • Benefits of incorporating in-clinic same day isolation, activation and administration of Adipose Derived Stem Cells
  • Locations of where Adipose Derived Stem Cells are administered
