Learning Objectives
- Participant will identify through palpation significant bony and muscular landmarks of the canine
- Participant will perform a basic evaluation inclusive of range of motion, joint play, soft tissue restrictions and strength
- Participant will be introduced to the principles of different types of massage and be able to safely and effectively apply them to the dog
- Participant will be introduced to the principles of joint mobilization and be able to safely ad effectively apply them to some of the joints of the dog
- Participant will be able to perform therapeutic exercises to the dog with minimal equipment in a safe and effective manner.
- Participant will recognize the basic principles of laser therapy and be able to safely apply it to a case load
- Participant will recognize the basic principles of shock-wave therapy and any other new, emerging modalities
Prerequisites
Participant must be a veterinarian, veterinary technician, physical therapist, physical therapist assistant, occupational therapist or an actively enrolled student in one of these fields.
