Our full service canine rehabilitation and sports medicine program is looking for a veterinary technician to add to our team. Rehabilitation certification or training is preferred, but we are happy to provide training for the right candidate. Interested applicants must have veterinary technician experience, a high standard of patient care and excellent client communication skills. We strive to treat our clients and patients like family in a professional, warm and caring environment.
The primary function of the Veterinary Assistant is to be responsible for assisting higher-level technicians and doctors with restraint and triage.
Essential responsibilities and tasks
Approaches and handles patients according to safety protocols and core values.
Able to address client concerns and answer them appropriately.
Understands and provides safe restraint for cooperative canine and feline patients during examination or procedures, including radiology, ultrasound and anesthetic induction.
Performs and recognizes normal physical exam parameters of temperature, heart rate, pulse quality, respiration and mucous membranes.
Performs all in-house laboratory diagnostics.
Ensures hospital working areas are cleaned, stocked and maintained in accordance with hospital policy.
